You shall not hesitate to give, nor murmur when you do give; because you shall know who is the good repayer of the hire. You shall not turn away from him that is in want, but you shall share all things with your brother, and shall not say that they are your own; for if you are partakers in that which is immortal, how much more in things which are mortal?

PaRASHaT TURE Portion 2/11/2012 Ekev | עקב | "Consequence"

PaRASHaT TURE Portion

2/11/2012

Ekev | עקב | "Consequence"
Torah: Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25
Prophets: Isaiah 49:14-51:3
Gospel: John 13:31-15:27

The forty-sixth reading from the Torah and the third reading from the book of Deuteronomy is named Ekev (עקב), a word from the first verse of the portion. Deuteronomy 7:12 says, “Then it shall come about, because (ekev, עקב) you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you His covenant and His lovingkindness which He swore to your forefathers.” Usually the word ekev means “heel.” In fact, this word shares the same three-letter root as the name Jacob (Yaakov, יעקב), whose name actually means “heel.” He was born holding on to Esau’s heel. However, in Deuteronomy 7:12, the word ekev means “on the heels of” or “because of.” This portion of Deuteronomy speaks of the rewards that will come to Israel on the heels of keeping God’s covenant and commandments.~www.torahportions.org

PaRaSHaT Va'etchanan

PaRASHaT Va'etchanan | ואתחנן | "I pleaded "
TURE: DaBaRIM 3:23-7:11
NaBIAIM: ISHOIEU 40:1-26
MaSHICH-anic: Luke 22:13-38

1Co 12:4  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5  And there are differences of administrations, but the same RUCH.
1Co 12:6  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same RUCH which worketh all in all.
1Co 12:7  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1Co 12:8  For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9  To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10  To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11  But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
1Co 12:12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is MaSHICH.
1Co 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be IEUDIMS or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Co 12:14  For the body is not one member, but many.

SHEMA

Deu 6:4  Hear, O ISHaRaAL: The ALEIM our IEUE is one ALEIM:
Deu 6:5  And thou shalt love the ALEIM thy IEUE with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
